Village Vets was born in 1980 when Karl Cosgrave took over our Dunshaughlin practice, and we’ve continued to provide the very best veterinary care to the pets in our community ever since, renovating the building in 2022 to make the best use of our space.
We have three large consult rooms, separate cat and dog wards and a diagnostic imaging room including dental x-ray equipment. We have a large, airy reception and we’re passionate about fear free techniques to help make every one of our patients’ visits to see us as comfortable as possible.
We’re conveniently located in the centre of Castleknock and we offer clients free parking at the side of and behind our practice.

Pet health plan
We're very proud of our innovative Pet Health Plan, which includes unlimited vet visits. We believe that the cost of a consultation should never be a barrier to getting expert advice, and the practice has over 1000 pets taking advantage of the fantastic benefits it offers. All of our team members are pet owners and we all choose to enrol our pets on to the Pet Health Plan, as we all believe it provides the best level of care for our loved ones.

Our family have come on a long journey since 1980 when our dad, Karl Cosgrave, bought the veterinary practice in Dunshaughlin. Like all families, we’ve grown and changed since then. These days we’re proud to be working with the best vets and nurses in Ireland across our state of the art clinics in Meath and Dublin.
As our original site, Dunshaughlin has always been important to us, and we refurbished the practice in 2022 to make the best use of the space.
We have separate dog and cat wards, three consult rooms and a diagnostic imaging room. Clients can enjoy our spacious, bright reception room and we have free parking on site.
Supporting our local community
We take great pride in giving back to the Dunshaughlin community, and contribute wherever we can, offering discounted services to charities such as Dogs Trust, Mollies Animal Rescue and the CPDA, as well as fundraising for Kildare Animal Welfare. We also regularly treat sick and injured wildlife for free – and are happy to help if you have a problem with wildlife in the area!
You’ll often find our team walking our dogs in the dog walking park behind Supervalu in the village or at the Hill of Tara – so do say hi if you bump into us!
