Fledglings and nestlings

It is a very busy time of year for all the Irish flora and fauna. Currently, we are playing mammy bird to this little fledgling we have named Goliath. He was brought in after a Labrador "retrieved" him from some shrubbery. He is probably a green finch. We are seeing more and more young birds being brought to us by members of the public lately as it is that time of year that baby birds start to leave the nest and learn to fly.

Concerts and Festival Fear

For all those pet owners living close to the festival in Marley Park this weekend heres some quick tips on keeping your pets calm with all the activity, loud muisic and crowds. Noise phobias take time to be solved but some of these things can help in the short term.

sun sensitivity

The glorious weather outside has got us thinking about the risks posed to cats especially white haired cats by the strong sun. Sunburn has a strong connection to skin cancer which is especially common in white cats. white haired dogs are also especially succeptible.
Skin cancer may show itself as tumours, ulcers or bad coat quality and cover. Tests are needed to confirm squamous cell carcinoman (skin cancer) and treatment depends on the type and severity of the cancer. In severe cases ear amputation and tumour removal may be necessary.

Prevent fleas & worms in your pet

Prevent Fleas and Worms

Key Points

  • Some worms can be fatal to your pet and some worms can affect humans, particularly children
  • It’s much better to prevent fleas and worms than wait for your pet to get them
  • If you pet gets fleas you may have to treat the house as well to kill all the eggs and larvae
  • Puppies and kittens have to be wormed very regularly from an early age; older animals also need regular treatment
  • A large range of the most effective products are only available from your vet.

Stillorgan Vets gets a make over

We are delighted to announce that the Stillorgan branch of Argyle & Bainbridge Vets is going to get a make over. We will be moving to the ground floor of the building. I know alot of you will be happy to say goodbye to the long winding steps up to the current entrance. We are all delighted with this new move but not looking forward to the banging and digging the builders will create! For the duration of the building, our car park will not be in use so we are all using the parking up along the hill beside Esmond Motors. There is plenty of parking here and a short walk over to us.
